I am currently training for my second marathon at St. Jude Memphis this December. I just completed Week 14 of Hal Higdon's Novice 2 Marathon Training Plan. I will recap my training and other highlights from my week here in the Weekly Wrap.

Monday, November 2nd
Monday was a scheduled rest day for running. My legs were still tired from my 19 mile long run on Saturday and I enjoyed the extra hour of sleep.
Tuesday, November 3rd
I ran 5 miles at an easy pace this morning. I loved having some daylight at the end of my run.

Wednesday, November 4th

I ran my mid week semi long run of 8 miles at goal marathon pace this morning. This was the last mid week semi long run left on my training plan. Yay!!!

Thursday, November 5th

I ran 5 miles at an easy pace this morning. We didn't have cool temps at all this week, but this morning was particularly humid and muggy.

Friday, November 6th

Friday was another scheduled rest day for running. It was a hectic day at school. We were short handed with a sub for one parapro and another one out on a field trip. I was exhausted after school. We went out to eat later that evening with my in-laws. We didn't get home until after nine. I took and shower and went straight to bed.

Saturday, November 7th

I ran the Capitol 10 Miler in downtown Montgomery. Luckily, the rain held off for the race although it was still humid and warm. I had a decent race on a tough, hilly course. You can read my race recap here.

I got home, showered, and took an afternoon nap. Later that evening, I watched the Bama -vs- LSU game. Bama played the best game of the season in my opinion. We control our own destiny now. Just gotta win out and SEC Championship here we come! ROLL TIDE!

Sunday, November 8th

Lately, Sunday's are my only day to sleep late. I slept until 9:30. It's rainy and nasty here so I didn't really want to get out. I worked on my blog posts a lot today. I'm participating in the Grow Your Blog Hop hosted by Kristy from Runaway Bridal Planner starting tomorrow. I'm going to be busy over the next two weeks, but I'm excited for this opportunity to link up with other bloggers.

  2. A few years ago, we drove to the panhandle of Florida via Alabama and stopped in Birmingham and ate at Dreamland BBQ. The funny thing is that we couldn't decide where to eat, but we smelled it and followed our noses. Best BBQ ever! Do they have Dreamland in Montgomery?

    1. There's a Dreamland in Montgomery. The original one is in Tuscaloosa. It's a real hole in the wall place, but you can't beat those ribs and that fresh white bread dipped in Dreamland BBQ sauce.

  3. Wasn't Thursday morning just like August? I couldn't believe it! I missed the Capitol 10 miler last year because I ran Blue Mountain Beach Half. I intended to run it this year, but we all know what happened there. Bama looked fantastic! I'm filling in for a vacancy in round 2 of the hop. The first round kept me busy, especially on the spotlight day. Do you just have one more long run now before St. Jude? I appreciate you linking up with us!

    1. It was so muggy Thursday. This rain seems to be cooling things down a bit. I'm excited about the Blog Hop. My spotlight day is Tuesday and I've been trying to start on that post all day, but I've got writer's block. I'm excited about linking up with other bloggers. I have a 20 miler this weekend, then I begin to taper. I'm looking forward to cutting back some.

  4. I don't know how you do it running 8+ miles before work. Friday's run about killed me, my boss was out but I'm not sure I could do that on a regular basis. I was very glad to get it in before the rain. You don't have long now. We have got to try and meet up in Memphis! I can't wait to be there! Thanks so much Debra for linking up with us each week! :)

    1. I'm so glad those mid-week long runs are done. I had to get out there before 5:00 to be done by 6:15-6:20 and be to work on time by 7:20. I felt so rushed and was worn out by the end of the day. I've got my 20 miler this weekend then I begin to taper. I can't believe how fast St.Jude is approaching. I'm so excited! I hope we can meet up too.

  5. I think it's been unseasonably warm everywhere this fall! You had a great training wee and congrats on the race! 10 milers may be my favorite race distance.

  6. Thank you! They don't offer 10 milers here often, but I did enjoy racing that distance. I would love to do this race again next year!

  7. Sounds like you had a great week! And congrats on a great race. And I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I'm totally jealous that you sleep in on Sundays. 9:30 is like noon to me! Anyway, good luck with the rest of your training! See you next week :)

    1. The rain came in this weekend and it seems to be cooling things down a bit. We'll see how long it lasts. You never know about our weather here in the south.

  10. Rain makes is so easy to be lazy and sleep. The hardest is when I'm working and the weather's nasty. Dark, gray, and rainy are a lethal combo.

    1. It was still rainy today at school. It is tough when all you want to do is crawl back in bed and sleep.

    1. I love Hal Hidgon's plans! I followed this same Novice 2 plan to get me through my first marathon last year. He's also really responsive on Facebook if you have questions. I've looked at Masters degrees online from UA. I've been teaching for 7 years and as much as I love it I want a Masters degree that will give me job options outside of the classroom. We're about 2 hours from Tuscaloosa. I love going to the games. Although I haven't been to nearly as many in the past two years. Roll Tide!

  13. I have never actually run a 10-miler...I think it sounds like a really fun distance. They do one up here in Philly called the Broad Street Run that is a point to point. Maybe I should check into it. Good week for you!

  14. Way to kill those early morning training runs and congrats on your Capitol 10 Miler. I haven't raced that distance in a while, but always loved the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in DC.
