Dawkin's Dash Race Recap

May 3, 2013

This was a local 5K in memory of Coach Kyle Dawkins, longtime football, wrestling and
P.E. Coach from Montgomery and Elmore County. Coach Dawkins passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2012 at the age of 49. The proceeds from this run went towards the Coach Kyle Dawkins Memorial Scholarship fund. Two $1,000 scholarships were awarded to a male and female student from the public schools in Elmore County.

The colors associated with Dawkins Dash were orange and green. The orange color was Kyle's favorite color. They used the green and orange together because Kyle was also an avid hunter!

This race was rainy and cold, very unusual weather for May. I was pleasantly surprised to receive my first age group award. I took home 3rd place in the 19-29 age group. A fellow teacher, Natasha, took 1st place. Ashley, another local girl who I grew up with, took 2nd place. Congrats, ladies!

It's nice to find out that you have placed when you least expect it. Have you ever placed in your age division?
